If you are an MJC alumnus and looking for support, don’t hesitate to attend one of the Uniting Church Congregations.
Tesha’s journey at Margaret Jurd College (MJC) is a powerful testament to the impact of second chances and the transformative power of education. When Tesha first arrived at MJC, she had missed a lot of school and was unsure of her future. However, through the unwavering support of the MJC staff and students, she rediscovered her belief in herself. “I was given that second chance,” Tesha reflects, “and that’s when everything started to change.”
At MJC, Tesha found more than just an education. She found a caring community that supported her both inside and outside the classroom. Her caseworkers, Tim and Bianca, played an essential role in her recovery, teaching her valuable strategies that not only helped her in her studies but also in her personal life and her professional journey as a support worker. “The skills I learned at MJC, like discipline, resilience, and perseverance, have stayed with me. They’ve been invaluable in both my job and my personal growth,” Tesha says.
Today, Tesha is no longer the wild and unpredictable person she once was. Her time at MJC helped her develop a calmness and maturity that she hadn’t thought possible. She continues to carry the lessons she learned, including the importance of believing in herself and following her passion for helping others. Tesha’s story is one of overcoming challenges, embracing second chances, and using the skills learned at MJC to shape a meaningful and rewarding career. She is grateful for the MJC family that helped her become the person she is today and remains a proud advocate for the college’s mission to empower students to thrive.
At MJC, we are committed to supporting our graduates as they transition from school to further education or the workforce.
Our dedicated team offers career advice, further education guidance, and personal support to ensure they continue to thrive after leaving MJC. Donations play a vital role in helping us expand these services, providing resources, scholarships, and mentorship opportunities for our alumni.
Past students can reach out for support within two years of leaving MJC. Please email pathways@mjc.nsw.edu.au for more information.
