Meet Darren, Principal of Margaret Jurd College
As Principal of Margaret Jurd College, Darren has been a driving force behind the school’s growth and direction. He’s passionate about supporting young people in a holistic, compassionate, and practical way. Darren firmly believes that with the right support, every young person can find their way back to learning, no matter the challenges they’ve faced. Under his leadership, MJC has introduced evidence-based practices, built continuous improvement frameworks, developed pathways for students beyond schooling, and expanded its reach with a new campus in Tuncurry on the Mid-North Coast of NSW. Darren is deeply committed to equity in education and is a fierce advocate for helping students, particularly those managing mental health challenge, reconnect with learning and their future.

Jamie is dedicated to creating inclusive and high-quality learning environments. With a strong vision for academic excellence and innovation, he has played a pivotal role in shaping educational communities that prioritise student success and wellbeing. Jamie’s strategic thinking and collaborative approach ensures that both students and educators are supported in their growth. Known for inspiring and motivating others, Jamie’s leadership is characterised by a commitment to fostering positive change and continuous improvement in education. He is a compassionate and empathetic person who values strong relationships and a supportive community. His love of education extends beyond the classroom, continuously seeking new opportunities for learning and development.

Meet Josh, Head of School (Tuncurry)
His innovative approach includes blending education with adventure – like using surfing to teach maths concepts. Passionate about student success, Josh fosters strong connections with students, parents, and the local community. Outside of work, he’s an avid traveller and surfer, sharing his love for the ocean with his four kids. Since June 2023, Josh has led MJC Tuncurry, building a nurturing space where every student can thrive.

At MJC, our team of Teachers, Caseworkers and Student Learning Support Officers (SLSOs), work together to support every student’s unique journey. Teachers tailor individualised learning plans to suit each student’s needs while Caseworkers nurture emotional wellbeing and mental health and SLSOs provide individualised guidance in the classroom. Led by a visionary Executive Team, supported by our administration staff, we create a supportive, empowering environment where students can thrive.
